Absolum Theme

Absolum is  free WordPress template from the designer(s) at Theme 4 Press.  This theme is deceptively simple at a glance, but is actually packed with several options and nice touches that aren’t immediately visible in the demo page.

Firstly, the innocuous looking masthead is actually an automated slider which cycles through Posts allowing space conscious site administrators to feature content, possibly using a catchy title and/or tag line. Each slider entry can be clicked (Title or Read More button) to immediately jump to the full story.

Below the masthead, Posts are laid out clean with plenty of white space. Pagination of articles is supported from the Post summary page allowing visitors to jump deeply into larger articles and allow the site admin and linkers to send visitors directly into the heart of denser articles.

Above, a menu bar provides traditional navigation, with a nice “button” to highlight the current page/section guests are viewing. These menus go at least three levels (if needed).

The designer included a nicely formatted implementation of the WordPress Gallery feature with standardized sizing of thumbnail preview images with room for captions.

A right hand sidebar completes the main theme layout.
